The following organizations are recognized by the Ardrey Kell ICC and are student-led and staff
supported. Each has been developed by students in collaboration with staff advisors. Contact the staff
advisor for additional details.
We have placed the clubs into six different categories. This will assist you as seek out your desired club
involvement. When choosing which club(s) to participate in, remember it is best to have a diverse portfolio
of involvement. Also, please note that some clubs can fall under more than one category; however, we have
chosen the category that best define's each club's mission. Check out each club's description to get a full
idea of what involvement in each club entails.
Academic Clubs/Groups
These clubs/groups focus on developing personal skills and/or knowledge in relation to the related academic subject.
ACE
Students learn from architects and engineers, and use that knowledge to design a structure, and build it. This is geared for students who plan on going into these fields after college, but also for anyone who has a passion or interest in the subject matter.

Biology Club
AK Biology Club is the best place to enhance your knowledge in biology and meet other fellow biology enthusiasts. We hope to reach out to students with an interest in biology to further foster their love for the subject.

Economics Club
Economics Club teaches students about important concepts related to economics and personal finance, and prepares them to make good decisions in the future. We have opportunities to compete in national-level competitions and host many events with guest speakers!

National English Honor Society (NEHS)
The National English Honor Society (NEHS), founded and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, is the only international organization exclusively for secondary students and faculty who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments.

Red Cross
Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that is dedicated to providing various services to the community, educating others about humanitarian crises and practicing and exemplifying humanitarian values.

Science National Honor Society (SNHS)
SNHS is a prominent scientific organization that will engender a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for America.

Science Olympiad
An American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. At Ardrey Kell, we have a Varsity and JV team. Each team consists of 18 students.

Technology Student Association (TSA)
Compete in technology and engineering based competition.

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) is an educational program that nurtures students' creativity and problem-solving skills, boosting their self-confidence. It forces students to learn a variety of skills in the STEM field. OM also emphasizes skills like teamwork, budgeting, time management, and public speaking. This international program aims to foster individual growth, teamwork, and the realization of students' full potential at various learning levels.

Provides students with opportunities to lead, serve our community, and compete with other students in regional, state, and national conferences. Our club is related to business and finance.

Girls Who Code
Our chapter is dedicated to promoting gender equality in the Computer Science field, as well as all fields of STEM. Our main goal is to build a "sisterhood" for girls to feel comfortable about expressing their passions for computer science. The point of our club is to immerse girls into the world of coding and give them a taste of what it's like to be in an environment with girls of similar interests.

Model United Nations
A simulation of the United Nations where students represent countries in the UN and attend conferences across the state and country to negotiate major international issues. We collaborate, give speeches, debate, have fun, and most importantly, grow as global citizens!

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921.

A Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter opens up a world of opportunities for students who have already shown themselves to be academically capable and musically gifted. Writing Club
Writing club promotes a supportive community of writers at AK. We have inclusive student-led writing lessons, creative writing workshops, and guest speakers. Students also have the opportunity to share their work to receive constructive feedback from peers

Ignite Innovators
Ignite Innovators is a club committed to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within Ardrey Kell. Our mission is to create an environment where students can come together to innovate, hustle, and bring business ideas to life. This club meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays in room B306. Art Club
Art club is a place to make new friends, learn about art, and socialize! Meetings are competition based, each month we will have a new theme for the competition and you will have until the next meeting to finish your piece. You may use any media (unless stated otherwise) and do whatever you want to with your piece! You may also use time during club meetings to work on your own art and use it as studio time if you would like!

DECA
Prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. We are the largest chapter in North Carolina with 475 student members and the largest organization on AK’s campus.

Girls Engineering Change (GEC)
A group of students motivated to encourage young girls to explore engineering. We volunteer at local schools. At each monthly meeting, we either discuss/plan volunteering, do an activity, or listen to a speaker who has experience in the STEM field.

HOSA
HOSA is a medical-based club that focuses on several health occupations, specifically nursing. The club partakes in many volunteering and community service events as well as major school events and activities. HOSA significantly improves leadership development and motivation while providing experiences in the medical field.

Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School Math Honor Society, was formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. We are dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)
The National Technical Honor Society is an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize, and empower students and teachers in Career & Technical Education.

Scholastic Competitions Club (SCC)
We are a club that serves to provide students with the opportunity to expand their scholastic knowledge through the use of participation in CMS-sponsored competitions, including but not limited to: Battle of the Books, The Quill, and Quiz Bowl. We are a platform that encourages students to learn more, using competitions to help kids increase their reading comprehension, absorb more knowledge about the world around them, and flourish in their writing skills. Through SCC, students can win medals for Ardrey Kell and expand their own academic knowledge in a fun and competitive environment.

Young Professors Club
Recognizes and encourages students interested in choosing teaching as a career. Serves as an introduction for students interested in persuing a career in education. General teaching practices and advice will be given and exemplifed by the club sponsor and club officers in between meetings. These general practices will be implemented by the student in a field of their choosing. The club will pair students with a teacher in their preferred field of study. The club will create a partnership between the sponsor teachers and the club members creating a dialogue between student and teacher about the demands of rigors and practices that inform 21st century learning.

AK Latinos is focused on creating a community and empowering Latinos students and allies. We will do this by attending college visit, learn about scholarship opportunities for Latino students and raise awareness at AK about the diversity of Latin American culture.

Club of Central Asia
The Club of Central Asia welcomes anyone that is interested in learning about the culture and traditions of Central Asia. Our purpose is to unite and educate people as we spread knowledge about the this region. The meetings will be held once every two weeks. Social Justice Clubs/Groups
These clubs/groups actively work to improve society and/or spread awareness about social justice issues.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a club focused on fighting human rights abuses through helping to change oppressive laws worldwide. Issues we focus on include climate change, protection of the freedom of expression internationally, arms control and refugee and migrant rights. We will be writing letters addressing specific human rights cases, fundraisers and drives and hosting guest speakers from local advocacy organizations.

Girls in Charlotte is a youth-led community organization dedicated to female empowerment, addressing menstrual inequity and giving back to our Charlotte community.

The National Organization of Women at Ardrey Kell is part of the largest chapter of intersectional feminist grassroots activists, and we aim to create a community of diversity and inclusion through meaningful group discussions, informative meetings, and collaborative events through a holistic approach to women’s rights.

The mission of Sandy Hook Promise is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. These skills are also achieved through the involvement in the execution of school events, representation at said events, and assistance to new students or those who request assistance.

Cans For Kids
Cans for Kids aims to aid families and students who have been less fortunate after the Covid-19 pandemic by helping them get daily meals. In addition to collecting food and drink donations, we provide volunteer opportunities to CMS students during our food drives and fundraisers. ESL Ambassadors
ESL Ambassadors are fluent in at least one other language besides English and are passionate about helping English learners and new immigrants to be successful and feel a sense of belonging at school and beyond. Club MAGIK
Club MAGIK services individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our members visit group homes around Charlotte which house these individuals, we do this through an organization called InReach. InReach works to empower these people and help them realize that their goals, aspirations, and dreams are within reach. During these visits, members get to experience a new and exciting environment as they do different activities with each visit and build bonds with wonderful people.

An opportunity for a group of General Education students to take the time to help students with disabilities at AK. Members of the Friends Club are kind and compassionate. They enjoy helping and are willing to give up some of their free time in order to foster a friendship with a student with special needs.

We meet every Thursday and go to Community House Middle School to help teach Mrs. Guthrie's orchestra class. Join to develop teaching skills and get service hours! Members must play orchestra instruments.

The AK Make-A-Wish club is dedicated to granting the wishes of children with critical illnesses, spreading joy, and creating memorable experiences.
